Based on a true story, The Transplant tells the side-by-side stories of Maria Giannaris, the five-year-old recipient of the first child heart-transplant in America, and my own story as a five-year-old girl reluctantly moving from Maryland to Texas. Two little girls, two parallel journeys, two very different outcomes. One story of courage.
